Hillsdale Music

Group classes are offered for guitar, ukelele and piano.

The classes are 45 minutes and time slots will be determined.
Classes are arranged to accommodate students of similar experience and age/level, from beginner to intermediate. Classes are also available for adults.

Piano Group Lessons:

Students are provided with a small keyboard and sit in a circle with the instructor in the middle on a piano. Students take turns on their keyboard and the group is taught in an organized manner, with personal attention to each student, respectively.
Students will learn to read music, understand rhythm, harmony and dynamics, finger positions and exercises on the keyboard, music theory and various practice techniques.
For best results, students are required to bring a notebook and pencil. Students are also required to have either a full size electric keyboard or piano in their home to practice on.

Guitar/Ukelele Group Lessons:

Students are required to bring their guitar/ukelele to each lesson. For the first lesson an instrument may be available for loan if the student has not purchased one yet.
Lessons are conducted in an organized and focused manner, with each student receiving personal attention in turn. Students will gather in a circle with the teacher at the center.
Students will learn to read music, understand rhythm, harmony and dynamics, strumming patterns, finger positions and exercises on the fretboard, music theory and various practice techniques.
For best results, students are required to bring a notebook and a pencil to the class.

Progress Reports:

Students will receive weekly progress reports and practice assignments. Feedback about the class is also welcome. It is important to us that each student has a positive, fun and productive learning experience.

Recording the Class:

For their own purposes of edification, the student may record the class but ONLY with an audio recording device, such as an iPhone. Out of respect for the privacy of the other students, video recordings are NOT permitted.
